After purchasing the HTC Vive I decided to mount the sensors on it. The price is right, about $30 when I bought them for a set of two, and they look and feel sturdy. You'll need an adjustable mount so you can point the Vive's sensors down a bit, if that's why you're buying it - another for $5 gets you a set of two ball mounts that fit together perfectly. I was also concerned that they take up a lot of floor space, but the tripod is really well constructed and doesn't require you to fully extend your legs to have a stable surface. I would estimate around a foot in circumference, maybe a little more is needed (just enough for the middle leg connector to touch the ground as shown in the picture). All in all a great article! I wish there was a carrying case or something but given the absurd prices I've seen tripods at it's hardly a problem, I can pack them in a plastic bag for that price.
