This is my fourth Canon PowerShot/SureShot. I'm strict with my cameras - I'm a blogger so my camera is always in my pocket, on my wrist, in my pocket. I need a reliable, small camera that can take crisp, fast photos and videos. When my last camera died a tragic death on concrete, I knew I would return to Canon. The only issue I have is that one of the reasons I'm going back to Canon is because I've accumulated a lot of batteries and chargers from dead cameras over the years. The PowerShot SD1200IS does not have the same battery size as previous Canon cameras. In fact, this battery isn't as wide as the Canon battery in my camcorder, my work camcorders, or my husband's professional Canon cameras. It really annoyed me - I usually have a charger at work, one at home and one in my travel bag. I also like to have an extra battery on hand for on the go. With this camera I would have to invest in completely new equipment. At the same time, the new battery holds a charge for an incredibly long time. I take at least one photo a day and about 5 short videos a week. I didn't charge the battery for almost two weeks before going to a 4 day music festival. In four days I took almost 200 photos and 15 videos. The battery kept ticking throughout the event with no lag or slowdown. The battery started dying just a few days after my return. I've never seen a battery last so long on any other camera! I find the body to be more durable than previous canons I've bought. The latch for the test/card slots is fairly solid, and the buttons sit snugly against the back of the camera, minimizing the chance of accidentally pressing or scratching them. Speaking of buttons, I find them very easy to use - like other Canon cameras, it's easy to figure out even in the dark. Images are clear, not blurry from the flash, night photos are good too. Video works great - no complaints about the price of this camera!
