Inexpensive but useful monitor mount

I have a few inexpensive monitor mounts like this so I have something to compare. This one relies on some (really smelly) grease in the plastic bushings where the lever sections connect. It works, and it's not terrible, but it does mean the movement isn't very smooth, the arm wobbles a bit, and it probably won't last very long. However, it does the job and isn't terrible. If you're planning on basically mounting the monitor to this mount, placing it in one spot and leaving it, you should be fine. The clamp is very strong and heavy which is great. During installation I found that my table didn't have enough open top to fit a regular arm. Luckily, the shell opens up on this one, allowing it to pinch the desktop *and* the frame below! It's great, makes the table more stable and gives the monitor arm something really solid to hold on to. So if you find yourself in a similar situation, this is a good reason to go for this particular model and not others. The monitor mounting plate allows you to hang the monitor using the top two screws and the bottom two with through holes. It's a really nice touch that makes installation a lot easier. I rested the 24" Dell monitor on my arm and didn't need to adjust the gas spring - it was already cocked to hold the monitor in place without bouncing. Of course, time will tell if she holds out. All in all not bad for the price, not a super slam dunk but first impressions say it's worth the money.

Pros
  • Monitor mounts
Cons
  • Can be damaged
