My first impression when I took them out of the box was how incredibly sturdy they were. I thought they would soften after a wash or two and actually get "soft" as some reviews claim. I had no luck. I washed them in cold water with regular detergent as directed and tumble dried on low. They came out of the dryer tough. I tried it again with some fabric softener and couldn't tell a difference. I washed it a third time using Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda, detergent and fabric softener. Still tough and scratchy. The product description even says they are soft and there is absolutely nothing soft about them. Also, the sheet will not fit an 18 inch mattress in any way as stated on the packaging. It barely fits my 12 inch mattress. Not as generous as other sheets I've had that claim to only fit a 15 inch mattress. I think that after the next wash they will not fit at all. This is unacceptable for records in this price range. They are also supplied in standard packaging. Unbranded which gives me no confidence that it is genuine Egyptian cotton. I take reeds from different manufacturers and put them in a packet. The only good thing I can say about them is that I like their color. Otherwise I don't think I can use them.
