I have a large standard size, both length and width, a dachshund that is also a bit chunky, but because it is very long I decided to go for the largest size that had this bed, and I'm glad I did because he curls up nicely in it and likes to snuggle under the hood for a bit to nestle in. I will say that it looks very different from the main image they use for this listing, but it's actually not a bad thing as my Ruth (dachshund) and I like it the way it is. It's flatter than it appears in the main picture, but is still very well thought out and padded, making it very comfortable for him to wear. The fluffy/fluffy material it's made of is also very soft and luxurious and makes you want a big beanbag bed or something for me haha. My Ruth sleeps in the bed with me as he is a separation anxiety dachshund like many other members of the breed (his separation anxiety is the main reason I bought the bed so he can lie next to me at my table even though the bed is mine is only 5 feet away from me while I'm at my desk, but that's typical separation anxiety for you!), but sometimes I wake up and see him sleeping in that bed under a little hood/valve because he just likes it loves. Both Ruth and I highly recommend this bed for your furry little ones and honestly no matter what size they are, even if they are tiny I would go up the next size up so they have extra room to stretch out and the hood/that valve to enjoy the best!
