Here's the horn! - Electrical

I have a 2001 Ford F150 SuperCrew and I'm sick of it sounding like a horn that should sound on a circus clown car. After reading the reviews for the PIAA 85115, I decided I would stick with it. Needless to say, wow! Where's the difference. My application required splices and wire connectors because my original wire harness plugins weren't working. This is how I handled the installation. Please note that you will need additional wiring to do the following. I had both red and black 16 gauge wire. Be sure to mark which wire is positive first and apply colored tape or something to mark it before disconnecting - this is easy to do with a voltage tester. Disconnect the stock wiring harness and cut the wire going to your horns about 3 inches from the end of the stock wiring harness. Do this with one cable at a time so you don't accidentally cross them. Now, using wire strippers, strip about 1" from the end of your extra wire, attach it to your bundle wire and crimp them into one piece, strip another 1" from the end of that wire and crimp. Now do the same for the other wire. After completing these steps, connect the horn, install it on the car and test it. Again, be careful not to mix up the wires when connecting to the horn.
