Review on πŸ–€ ULTRAFLESH Blackout Mini Mascara - The Gold Standard by Julie Howard

Daytime defining mascara

I got a sample of this mascara at Beauty Box 5 last year but hesitated to try it because I couldn't find any sales information anywhere, leading me to believe it was discontinued or maybe even an old product. Regardless, I took a chance and tried it out yesterday with no intention of revisiting and was actually quite pleased considering it's an 'unnamed' brand. The brush is one of the best I've tried. It has plastic bristles that are very pointed and thus help with precise application. One side of the brush has much more prominent bristles, like a comb, so it really helps add length and definition to the lashes. The formula itself was spot on. I don't know if this is an inherently very dry formula or if my sample had just expired, but it was very dry and almost non-existent; however, it did NOT make it flaky or lumpy which is amazing. The dry formula allowed it to go on smoothly without running down my eyelid and under my eyes, but it wasn't as dramatic as a result. This mascara leaves your lashes very defined and fluttering for a beautiful natural look during the day. However, I'm not impressed by how much I love my mascaras. The sample brush handle is exactly the same size as Urban Decay's Perversion mascara tube so I can swap out the brushes to see if it works. Overall: 5 stars for the brush, 3 stars for the formula. Too bad it's still on sale so it was more readily available.
