I have purchased this flashlight three times to use in a range of lighting fixtures and all three times they were noticeably and distinctly different from each other. The first purchase was a test and it was perfect. The thread appears to be hand wound as it has a rough, slightly tangled appearance. Very cool. So I bought a second lamp. I also bought a second lamp to mount and installed it next to a pair of tall speakers. The second lamp arrived a week ago and was very similar, with slightly darker glass and a neater filament. It was an almost perfect double helix, maybe a machine? Anyway, it looks different so I decided to order a third one to match. The third arrived today. It has a darker glass, like the second one, but the filament spool is much shorter. Probably an inch of a shorter glowing thread. There is a significant gap between the top of the filament and the top of the glass. It doesn't look like the item pictured above, much shorter. Disappointing in combination with either of the first two. So remember that you should buy as many as you need (and possibly a spare) at once. That's hard to beat. And be aware that the picture is no longer a good representation of what it looks like.
