This cable uses the thinnest, least stranded wires you can use. If you use this for anything other than using old landlines, just forget about it. Due to its thin and fragile construction it is almost impossible to strip individual wires and doing so will expose 3 or 2 thinner strands. as a hair. It is impossible to solder them for other purposes, they do not fit and are too thin. It's also a bit disturbing that the wires are almost the same color, but if you look closer you can see that 2 of them are rather red washed out and the other 2 are blue-faded. Other 4 prong phone cords I've used have always been one color, all different.
