Review on HW Zone Genuine Leather Mahogany by Keith Morris

Separation in less than a year

This belt is made of BONDED leather; It is NOT "genuine leather" made from whole pieces of leather such as premium leather or split leather. I bought a black belt and wore it an average of 3 days a week. After 11 months it started to crack and now after 12 months the bracket is visible. It will soon become unusable. I have to say that I have had a few lesser quality re-glued leather belts than this brand, but this brand is nowhere near the best re-glued leather I have owned in over 50 years. However, I have a quality leather belt that I have had for over 20 years and although it is showing significant wear it has absolutely no cracks or breaks. Many suppliers use the term "real leather" when there is at least some real leather content (which this belt obviously has). Unfortunately, the US Federal Trade Commission only recommends that suppliers declare the percentage of leather in the final product; it doesn't require them. In the UK and New Zealand, suppliers are prohibited from using the term 'real leather' unless the product is 100% leather. Automakers are more honest too. They use terms like "leather-trimmed seats," meaning the entire seat is not leather, or "leather seating surfaces," meaning the part of the seat your body touches (the panel/backrest) is covered in leather but areas such as the sides and backrest. in front of the passengers, either leather or high quality vinyl. It is unfortunate that this manufacturer has decided to follow the others and exaggerate the truth to the extent permitted by law.
