I fractured my wrist severely and subsequently required surgery to insert a titanium plate with pins and screws to hold my bones together. I wore a long splint for 8 weeks and wanted something that wasn't as constricting but would support my wrist while it continues to heal. That works great. It supports my wrist but doesn't cover half of my arm like mine does after surgery. I live in South Carolina, it's very hot and muggy so I definitely didn't want more protection than necessary. I also like that it's not black - again because it's hot and the lighter color reflects the sun. I wear mine with a jersey lining that is easily washed so the splint doesn't absorb sweat and get rough. I have an 8 inch wrist and the large size fits me well, but if you have large wrists/hands they can be a bit tight.
