Brushes are soft but densely packed, picking up and holding powder very well. I was particularly impressed by the flat brush for precisely applying shadows and shading. Not very impressed with the little fluffy brushes. They could be thicker and the length of the bristles could be shortened. Now they are completely useless. Love the inclusion of an eyebrow brush and eyelash comb. Now too many kits don't include this tool and in my opinion it really should be in every collection. The mini kabuki brush is a great little bonus and great for on the go. The smell was chemical but nothing bad. Just let the brushes breathe overnight for a few nights to get rid of them. No shedding, no dangling handles. These brushes are definitely on par with brushes and that's one of the reasons I love them (I grew up with brushes more than makeup brushes lol). I LOVE the large, fine-tipped precision brush that comes with the kit. This is not even a technical make-up brush, but drawing with liquid. I'll have some fun with it. 😉
