We wanted some of the automatic porch lights to work at night but turn off during the day. I tried some devices that claimed to do the job but didn't. These lamps were an instant hit. He took out the old yellow bulbs and screwed them into the cartridge, completing the installation process. As soon as I flipped the switch, they would light up for a moment and then immediately go out because it was day. As soon as it got dark outside, they switched on. Bright enough to be seen from half a mile (or more) when driving down the road, but it doesn't seem to attract as many bugs as previous lamps (although that could be due to the weather).
