I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. I have a metal part under the case. The case is mottled plastic with small rubber grooves on it. This is a fairly common case that I've seen a lot of people use. Instant magnet on metal with nothing in between is extremely strong. With an intermediate body, it's definitely a lot smaller, but still feels solid enough to hold the phone in place. I don't mind gluing a piece of metal to the outside of the case if it comes to that, but for now it seems ok to just glue it inside the case. I had it not long ago so I can't tell you how well the adhesive sticks to the dash. I had a different model in a different car and it was great until this thing fell off the dash. It gets pretty hot for me, so it's going to be a real challenge. I'll update if anything goes wrong otherwise I'll give five stars.
