Review on πŸ”Œ SEAFLO 12V Self-Priming Impeller Gear Pump for Diesel, Lubricants, Machinery Fuel, and Scavenge Oil Transfer by Howie Broyles

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not suitable for use in salt water.

I have two of these pumps on my boat which are used to flush seawater into my toilets. They worked fine for two years, but then one failed. It worked but not downloaded. During disassembly I found rust residue in the gear compartment and NO wood veneer (gear holder). Bought a new pump and found the shaft key was plain carbon steel and not stainless steel. Stainless steel shaft (as specified) but no key. After two years it was completely rusted (rusted). I have changed the keys to 316 stainless steel in both pumps and am hoping to get better results. These are great pumps but should not be used in salt water, especially as Bolge pumps as the description suggested.
