After ordering 3 different collars for our 10 lb boxer chihuahua mix ooooooooooooooooooooo-oooooooooooooooo dashing pet!) I finally found the right width. It wasn't much different than Goldilocks. lol. Our dog is smaller and slimmer with a long neck, so we went with a cat collar on the first try. Not quite, but our cat lit up. The next collar was too wide - better for a small, short-necked, large dog like a Boston Terrier or Corgi. It was like a turtleneck on our dog. Donated to our beloved rescue. It was exactly what was needed. As you can see from his photo, he looks dapper. I like that it has a reflective strip for safety on night hikes. Strong fabric and easy adjustment. We went down a size small, but maybe an XS would have worked - I tend to like to go on the side of a longer length for adjustment, then it's *almost* too tight. I am very happy with this collar after the saga!
