When I was younger I was always given "pages" of gold leaf - it's so thin and delicate. This makes it easier to work with. Of course, it's also beautiful and delicate, but I remember just trying to pull a sheet of gold leaf out from under the paper was crazy. So it's pretty messy to work with gold leaf, but there are designs that just (literally) sparkle when a bit of gold leaf is added. Using a sticky glue stick that allows you to draw thin lines is a huge plus when you're sparing with gold leaf. Also, don't work with gold leaf next to the front door through which children will run, or next to a ceiling fan - either way those golden flakes will fly everywhere! The absolute best thing you can do with this set is to use more than one color. I need some green flakes so I can make the Black Hills Gold tri-color flakes (pink, silver, and green). My next project, which will include scales, is to create an abstract canvas with textured areas, then try some watercolor or diluted acrylics on the texture, and once dry, dab parts of the textured (and non-textured) areas with glue and add gold sheet to bring out the texture and colors on the canvas.
