Lovely badger hair shaving brush - lasted 9 years

I bought this shaving brush in January 2011 after years of using cheap pharmacy brushes. I read that the Badger is the best shaving brush and I wanted to try it. I was shocked at how expensive they are until I found this item. I shave every other day and keep it in the included holder where it can "breathe". I rinse the bristles in hot water and rinse out the soap dish. with hot water for a pleasant "hot shave". After almost 9 years of use I was very satisfied with this shaving brush and I still haven't thought about changing it (it's worn out). Here's my 9 year old review: Pros: - It holds plenty of soap and transfers it well to the shaved area - The bristles are soft and don't itch but are stiff enough to lift the beard and allow for a close shave - If it was new, had firmly "boned", has softened slightly over the years. - The metal handle is strong and durable. Offers a secure hold (unless you're soaping it up!), wish it was a little longer. - It comes with a stand so it can drip/dry. Cons: - He lost stray hairs once or twice a week. but not what I consider excessive and not every time I've used it. The stand could be a bit heavier to accommodate the weight of the handle. You have to be careful when setting it up on the stand, it tips over easily and some of the bristles can be chipped or bent. The logo faded from the pen after a year. This isn't the kind of shaving accessory that's good for on the go. (for me).- He doesn't have much "backbone" (hardness) at the moment. He was never strong, but he was good enough. Now I've found I have to press a little harder than I'd like to get it under my beard. - After 9 years, the bristle knot came loose from the handle and it's time to buy a new one. The last two releases are expected over time. As far as I can tell 9 years isn't that bad, especially considering the price. I would say that I got my money's worth. I would definitely buy it again in this price range. Now that prices have generally come down and I know more about them, I'll do some research first and maybe spend a little more this time.
