I ordered this trowel solely for digging holes while hiking. I bought a stainless steel collapsible a long time ago, it was much heavier than this one. At 11 inches long (5 inches at the handle and 6 inches at the blade) and weighing less than 2 ounces, this is the perfect hiking paddle. The digging blade is 2 to 2 3/4 inches wide. The handle is 1" wide and 3/4" deep and is hollow on the back. This trowel is made of hard plastic with sharp edges that help cut through soil quickly and cleanly.
