After reading reviews from various brands for several days I have come to the conclusion that these analog milk thermometers can be inaccurate and need to be calibrated. The first thing I did when it arrived was test it on ice water and it was accurate! I also checked the temperatures with my digital thermometer and they were the same! The clip was difficult to slide down at first, but once you got the hang of it (slightly pinching the clip) it was easy. I used it. when frothing milk. The dial is very easy to read. The red color on the dial turned out to be very convenient - I didn't even look at the actual temperature, only when the arrow was near the red mark. It's not exactly an "instant" read, but it's fast enough. I still suggest turning off the steam a little earlier than your target temp. I would recommend it!
