It does a good job removing driveway and pet stains on my carpet, but it takes A LOT of washing back and forth and then A LOT of spinning to get the job done. Also, after cleaning and removing the grout, I recommend spraying clean water on the area and vacuuming again to remove as much cleaner as possible - a floor care uncle told me years ago that the most important part of cleaning is removing the cleaner is after. In fact, I now normally only use this machine to RINSE the carpet after removing the stain by hand with a cloth and a minimal amount of cleaner, and then use the Dirt Devil machine with just clean water to rinse and wring. Any domestic carpet cleaner, including a rental machine, will take longer to dry the carpet than a commercial carpet cleaner because their machines have a much more powerful extractor - larger commercial carpet cleaners remove over 95% of the liquid used.
