The high cost of protecting a valuable area. I think compared to other products it shouldn't be that expensive. I had previously put in a Shock Doctor shell and while it was more comfortable to wear, I had to kick my feet in areas where I was still experiencing severe pain. Obviously not as much as without, but still enough to recover before getting back into combat. Which brings us to the Diamond MMA cups and shorts. I was kicked hard at least 3 times and had 2 low kicks to the area and didn't feel any of them. The other guy stopped right away to see if I was ok and each time I had no pain or problems. The shell itself isn't as pleasant to walk on as the Shock Doctor, but it's not at all noticeable in actual combat. The shorts tighten to hold the cup in place and it does the job we need it to. It is well built and looks like it will never need to be replaced.
