I was happy with this scanner until I scanned my third or fourth document. (Unfortunately, this happened after the 90-day warranty expired.) When scanning a document, I heard a rattling noise and the scanner stopped scanning. I looked under my document and saw through the scanner glass that a small white plastic cap was loose. The strap that pulls the scanner back and forth has come loose from its upper axle, because this cap that was supposed to remain on the end of the upper axle has come loose. (Note to HP: The cap needs to be screwed in or glued on like a screw to keep it from popping out.) I tried emailing hp.com asking for help opening the scanner and using it myself to repair. but my computer keeps getting an error message from the website email address.
