Love these new Brydge keyboard sleeves compared to the old clips they have been using for a while. The design of this Air Max+ resembles a magic keyboard as it has a strong hinge to keep your tablet upright and not on a stand. It also has a case that allows you to attach and detach the keyboard with magnets. This design allows you to use it on your lap like a real laptop (not just on a flat surface like a desk). It doesn't have everything the Apple keyboard case has as it doesn't use a smart jack, there's no pass-through charging option. Also, the keyboard case needs to be charged separately from the iPad, so there's a good chance you'll end up with two different cables dangling from this thing at some point if both the iPad and keyboard need to be charged at the same time. The keyboard is really good as it should be because that is the essence of this product. Due to the 11 inch form factor, it is slightly smaller than a real laptop keyboard. But I personally have no problem tapping it and I'm an adult with average sized hands for a 5ft 11 person. This might be an issue for some people but I'm sure you see size comparison videos on YouTube can find. The trackpad is also very good, it's mechanical and not the solid-state trackpads Apple uses on its MacBooks. But the click is very tactile and pleasant, but it's a trampoline design. So you can't click the top of the trackpad, only the bottom 2/3 or so. Tracking is very accurate and you can adjust the speed and other settings in the main Settings app for iPad under "General" and some other options are available under "Pointer Control". There is a Brydge Connect app, but it's only for updating the keyboard firmware. I was a little worried about the space for the Apple Pencil, but it charges and stays connected great. They seem to have put a lot of thought into the design, e.g. For example, leaving the power button open to work with iPad Air's Touch ID. There is also a small tab that slides out on the back of the case to make it very easy to detach from the base. Whether someone needs a keyboard case for their iPad or not is really debatable. If you mainly use your iPad to scroll through social media and watch Netflix, then having a keyboard for that would probably be overkill. But at the same time, if you've bought an Air or an 11-inch Pro, you must want the best iPad experience you can get. I personally like it because I write a lot of Revain reviews and love trying new products. And I love the idea of having a premium tiny device that looks like a MacBook. I'm also enjoying seeing the iPad operating system evolve into more than just iOS on the big screen. It's still NOT a full Mac OS replacement, but for some people (depending on what kind of work they need to do) it may be the only thing they need in terms of 'computer'. For people under 25, touch interfaces are probably the default way to use a computer, with an iPad and a keyboard you get a nice convergence of the two paradigms (point/click and touch interfaces). I don't think Apple ever wants the iPad to be a Mac, they want the iPad to eventually replace the MacBook. iPadOS just isn't mature enough (yet) to make this possible, but maybe in a few years. Pros + Backlit keyboard for comfortable typing. Separate case when you need to detach from the keyboard. Great trackpad with a nice click, although it's rubber/plastic feels very premium overall. Cons Uses Bluetooth (so needs to be paired and charged separately from the iPad). having to press a key instead isn't a huge issue, but worth noting, this might be fixed with a future firmware update) Update: After using this keyboard case for a few months, I only use this one, although I have others that do cost more than this (thanks Revane Vine). This one is simply the best of them all because it has a really good keyboard and trackpad, easily detaches and is still protected by the two-piece design. I'd almost go for the Logitech Combo Touch instead, but the kickstand prevents you from using it on your lap in this case because it doesn't sit upright very well. I just want to say that for $150 this case is incredibly good and after reviewing it became the one I still use (although I have other great options).
