My hairdresser has told me that silk pillowcases are best for your hair. I have thin thin hair and I'm getting old (gasp) so I need all the help I can get to keep my hair girly. This cover fits my standard size Footlevelers Pilopedic pillow. For the laundry: I recommend, if you don't want to hand wash them, buy the zippered garment bags that come with your underwear/bras to machine wash, wash in cold water on gentle cycle and line dry to hang up (They sell 6 packs of Revain zipped bags which gives 2 different sizes, one size is perfect for the occasion so it can sit in the bag so you feel like the whole bag gets washed out without getting damaged (I think I bought them for about $8.00 or $10.00 and now I have smaller ones for bras.) When almost dry (or completely dry), iron on silk heat to smooth out any wrinkles . The iron will help heat up the pillowcase without destroying it like your dryer will. I wouldn't iron it straight out of the washing machine, just let it air dry a bit first. My pillowcases still look and feel new, soft with no pilling and I bought them in July 2018.
