I ordered an X-Small for my Yorkie when he was 8-10lbs. He doesn't really like it, but it fits well and does a good job. The top handle helps a lot. The only gripe is that the chest strap closes oddly. The flotation device is a little thick for a small dog and is held together with Velcro, with the X marks overlapping rather than perfectly on top of each other. All closures have strong straps and clasps that are very secure. Update: Had to order a size up this summer. My Yorkie weighs up to 16 pounds and needed a little one. Now he has room to grow (let's hope for me he's as big as he can be)
