After washing these napkins looked very rough and I was a bit disappointed but I started to appreciate their imperfect, uneven, home-spun look. They're 100% cotton, so they're better for the environment than polyester or paper napkins. I chose them for that reason and because I wanted a real navy blue. They're as close to true dark blue as I could find and I'm happy with the color. At just over a dollar each, they're good value for money. You might not want to use them for a corporate or formal dinner, but they're great for everyday use. Another unexpected benefit of their imperfect looks and value is that while we're worried about getting my pretty cloth napkins dirty, we don't hesitate to wipe our dirty hands on them, so they're very functional.
