Review on πŸ’‘ Enhance Your Lighting Setup with Philips Hue Equivalent Industrial Electrical Components Compatible with Smart Assistants by Eduardo Locke

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good for simple lighting; Inflexible app hurts rating

This was a harsh rating as I like the light but I really hate the app. I also had LIFX lights; I decided to switch to Philips to increase the number of devices without clogging the Wi-Fi network, and now I have doubts about this decision. The Philips bulbs themselves are fine; Like most smart bulbs, they are much brighter 'top' than 'side'. The LIFX lighting is as good if not better than Philips and the app is MUCH better. Options for things like auto lighting and color changes have become a lot more flexible in the LIFX app. Another minor gripe from Philips compared to LIFX is that Philips lightbulbs don't seem to have memory - when they turn on, they always glow white. LIFX bulbs will turn on the color they were last set to (exactly what I want them to do). Based on my experience I would make the following recommendation: - only a few lamps or for lamps that want a lot of color flexibility or automatic on/off use LIFX - for large installations or for simple lighting needs use Philips A: they work great and have one slightly better price per bulb and run on a separate circuit. My Thoughts: I will probably leave Philips and hope they improve their app; As this technology evolves I like the idea of keeping it on a separate network and expect to add more lights as my future apartments/houses grow and the technology becomes cheaper. choose, I think using it as a wake-up light is one of the coolest things (especially in winter when you can't rely on the sun to wake you up). I was able to turn off the alarm sounds and now use the light to wake me up; It's a much gentler way to get up in the morning.
