I bought three of these 18 months ago; two are exactly the same, with retractable boom and one with fixed boom. I got it first because I was concerned about using a longer extension without a counterweight. But I had nothing to fear. I use Sure 58 mics almost exclusively and have never had a problem singing on stands (note the orientation of the base). I also use it with heavy bass, but I'm more nervous. However, these worries are on my mind. And I'm back for more. I use one on a desktop clip to hold my 12" iPad at a flexible distance for zoom work. It is almost always fully extended unless folding it back against a wall for storage. and he excels in that role. But now that I have to get out a bit again, I want to put it back in my bag so I don't have to break my rig. After a year and a half of almost constant use and weekly up/down adjustments, I'm very, very satisfied. As I said, I came to the site to order two more.
