Stinky Pants, Stinky Pants

Moving to a cooler climate prompted DH to mention an item of clothing he's seldom worn since we married: pajamas. I pictured the leads from some of the old black and white movies, scenes of them lounging around in tailored pajamas, maybe holding martinis and glaring seductively at the leads. These are the images I had in mind when I ordered them for DH. I liked that they look like traditional pajamas with a shirt and pants, so I opted for the black set. When the package arrived, I opened it and checked the pajamas, noting that the black top was adorned with gray piping and all the black pants had an elasticated waistband with a button fly. As I held the items in front of my face, I smelled a strong chemical odor. When I decide to wash them, I check the instruction label on the pajamas and learn that they are '20% cotton, 80% wash.' Obvious misnomer. I chose to wash it cold and dried it in the "no heat" mode, not knowing the composition of the fabric. Even with cold water and no heat in the dryer, I could see that at least the top looked smaller. On the other hand, they smelled clean when I gave them to DH to try on. First he put on his pants. I saw they were tidal and tighter than I'd like in pajama bottoms, but nothing particularly bad. Then he put the top on and even though it was XXL he couldn't pull it over his shoulders let alone try to zip it up. None of us are fans of these pajamas and recommend looking at other brands.
