These votive sized flameless candles are a great complement to other sizes of LED candles. They use a much more advanced (longer lasting) CR2450 battery. Not only does the 4/8 hour timer offer more flexibility compared to most flameless candles of this size, but the automatic on/off timer is much more convenient than the remote timer (which unfortunately is becoming all too common). Remote controlled flameless candles are not desirable in my opinion. With a built-in timer, it's "set and forget". There is no remote control that you can lose or accidentally turn on and off other LED candles that are not part of this set. (I've found that many remote controlled flameless candles are fired from each other's remotes.) Aesthetically, I wish they had a more waxy appearance (they're plastic, I'd prefer wax). Also, as others have pointed out, the flicker isn't very pronounced. (The flicker is there, but more subdued, which can be a plus.) So far, they've performed reliably. The only noticeable downside I've found is that the battery door doesn't fit well and the plastic on the battery door feels too brittle compared to other candles I've owned. No damage so far, but time will tell.
