Nice design, but not like that! And you can not sharpen!

Five stars for knife and sheath design. Everything is fine with the pen. four stars. sharpness? A star. dissatisfied. I like it when my knives are sharp. It's barely adequate out of the box and seems to get boring just sitting around with no real use. I never use it for more than a few pieces of line, I can't now cut through 50 lb line without high pressure or repetitive sawing motions. It's not just uncomfortable. It's not safe. I surf in New England and I always carry a knife on my arm in preparation for an emergency. For example, my feet became tangled in a thrown fishing line while navigating boulder fields with oncoming waves. Especially in the dark. I can't find the maker online (bad sign) so there doesn't seem to be any way of knowing how it should be sharpened. UPDATE JANUARY 2016: Wenoka was acquired by Aqualung. My local dive shop where I bought it had no idea how to sharpen it so asked Aqualung. who say they have no information on sharpening their products. It's disappointing that a company like Aqualung has been so ignorant or indifferent. This isn't some crappy $2.99 Benny knife. I paid about $40 for it! Of course it's stainless steel. and I don't see any published specs for the actual type of stainless steel. I tried high quality Indian and Arkansas white oil stones. which comes in handy for me when sharpening carbon steel. The knife does not hold its edge well. The straight blade has an asymmetrical edge. The bevel is longer on one side than the other. Therefore, you cannot run the knife through a standard sharpener or hand puller. The serrated side is of course extremely difficult to sharpen as you need diamond bars with the exact radius of each tooth. I don't know what to do. I'll probably end up throwing it away or selling it because I can't rely on a dull knife. Even a straight blade will not be a sharp blade. It is strange that the blade is asymmetrical. Very steep on one side and very gentle on the other. This only adds to the hassle and obviously means you can never use a standard ceramic hood sharpener. "Designer" Blackie Collins should be ashamed for selling his name to this junk.
