Update October 7, 2012 -------------------- Attention buyers - my last purchase of this replacement packaging (June 2012) contained a cutter with "wide" blade. This is the same type of blade as the official replacement pack for the 8585 and is completely ineffective. I even bought a replacement when I was traveling because the shave was taking too long. Same result. I found it in a 31 pack replacement. Please note the 31 foil does not fit the 8585 so I had to use the foil I already had which is fine as it was only a few months old. I don't know why Braun is such a hit, but the wide knife cutter works terribly. Other reviews point to this as well. If the entire product line switches to a wide knife, I don't know what I'll do. Maybe I'll change razors. I don't really want that - I love the cleaning device. However, I have at least a year to figure this out as I just bought a new cutter. Update January 7, 2012 --------- I bought another one of these and it works just as well as the one I tested over a year ago. I noticed that shaving was taking longer and longer - at least twice as long as with new blades. I'm happy to report that the time I spend shaving is a lot less again and I'm still not pulling my mustache. I still recommend this film and the cutter. First Review ---------------- About 8 months ago I bought this replacement cutter for my Braun 8585: Braun 8000 Activator Combi-Pack foil and cutting block replacement parts for Braun Activator models 8595 and 8585 As soon as I changed the cutter and foil, the razor started pulling on the mustache while shaving. It wasn't everyday, but if I skip a shaving day the next time I shave, it's going to hurt as the razor pulls tendril after tendril. I also had more spikes, which used to be rare. I was considering replacing my perennial 8585 when I saw reviews that said this cutting shaft and slide would stop whiskers. I figured it was cheaper to buy than a new razor so I took a chance. The knife shaft fits my 8585 perfectly and is the same size as the blade I replaced. The film also fits perfectly, although the screen has a different design. The outer plastic is a different color than my 8585, but I don't care. I just want a good shave. I shaved two days of growth without a single movement for the first time in 8 months. What a relief! The shave was also closer. My old razor blade cuts like it used to, so I don't have to buy a new one. If your 8000 series shaver isn't cutting like it used to, try this one.
