The device is mechanically perfect. I would buy a refurbished product again at any time. It arrived quickly and was well packaged. But the design of this handheld makes it difficult to use the device comfortably. Let me explain: I used a voice recorder for decades. It was designed for easy one-handed operation. It was easy to stop, collect my thoughts and then move on. I didn't have to "think about it". This Sony model does not have this feature. So, to recap, if ease of use and the ability to easily start and stop the dictation process aren't something you care about, I'd quickly do so. Otherwise, if at all possible, "try before you buy". Ultimately, this is the only way to know if you will be happy.
