Manufacturers use the same type of container they have offered for decades. The top has spray holes covered with postage stamp size glue. So when that little square thing is removed, the consumer has a choice: leave the holes uncovered and allow the product to become a solid block in about two weeks; cover with aluminum foil and process each with foil; Find a plastic bag and a rubber band to keep air and moisture out of the product. Since it costs the manufacturer about 1/2 cent per jar to make a reusable plastic lid, it's very annoying to fiddle with tin foil, plastic bags, and rubber bands. I transferred this product to a large spice jar. . The tight-fitting lid keeps air and moisture out. A bit disappointing for a product that was anything but cheap.
