These work fine. If they are powered by a car battery, the engine should be idling.
We used these to decorate the trunk of our car for Halloween. We ran them on electricity from our car battery with the engine off. Our battery died in less than 15 minutes. When using them with a car battery, leave the engine idling. We hung them on our trunk lid with little plastic hooks so we didn't use the glue they seem to have. If we use them again, we will have a separate battery, different from the one in the car.
