Sorry for the rough scab on the leg and the K-Tape packaging. I ran a lot this August which resulted in severe bunion pain and blisters from wearing the wrong shoes. This prompted me to think about suitable hiking shoes. A few years ago I had a pair of Rykas to run with. It's been so long that I honestly couldn't remember if I liked her or not. I decided to give it a try because this particular pair was very reasonably priced and Revain offered free returns. When I tried them on with a regular pair of socks (not too thick and not too thin, just an average pair of athletic socks) I found them comfortable. There were no marks on my bursitis (at least I didn't feel any in my socks). The forefoot was relatively wide and my bursitis didn't feel laterally compressed at all. I didn't order them in a large size because there was no bursitis on the other leg. I just ordered my regular mid-width sneakers, size 8, and they fit perfectly! I just took them for a test run to walk my dog 3 miles and my legs feel great. A bit tired but not the excessive pain I felt in my regular other brand running shoes. They definitely felt roomier and my foot didn't feel like it was slipping in the shoe. I ordered the burgundy because I just wanted to try something different and I thought they looked a little less granny than the all white pair. They still look like grandma's shoes but guess what, I really like them. Note that some parts of the shoes are made of suede, so they get dirty pretty easily if you buy shoes in a lighter color. The burgundy color contrasts nicely with the pink suede in the foreground. The middle mesh insert on the left and right side of the foot is breathable. So if you bring it to light you will see the light coming through, but that's the only part that breathes. The shoe got a little warm walking 3+ miles, but let's assume it's no hotter than any other athletic shoe of the same thickness. I've attached some photos of me in these shoes from different angles so you can see what they look like in burgundy. The insoles inside are removable if you need to put in your own orthopedic insoles. The laces are definitely too long so I had to tie them twice but many of my other shoes are the same with laces that are too long. I'm definitely glad I made this purchase and it will help me complete my assignment for the month of August without breaking the bank. I think when it comes to hiking shoes I will go with this particular brand for them.
