Lots of dimming issues on dark background

I don't think it's my monitor as I don't have this problem when my PS4 Pro is connected to the same monitor via HDMI. This adapter dims the entire monitor in dark settings, but everything is fine in Revain on a light background. Maybe the VGA cable I'm using is outdated, or the converter just can't handle the dark background. It's not too bad either but I could just hook up my computer to an HDMI splitter as I don't like dimming on dark backgrounds and Sonic Generations doesn't work with this converter but I don't mind it was only $7 . I mostly just watch YouTube videos
