The lid is made of a material that feels durable and has a beautiful finish. The back of the case has a nice smoky transparent look. This is where the good times end. The back and sides of the case are cheap, ugly plastic that I was afraid would scratch the iPad as it slipped in and out of the case. And there's no magnetic fixation when the valve is tilted backwards - it just rattles and gets in the way.
