I bought two speakers. The sound is very impressive indoors, and in fact we usually use them at very low volumes. The backlight is fun and goes perfectly with the music. They can be easily controlled via the Sony Music app. Which brings me to the main downside: the app is sluggish and the speaker grouping is very inconsistent, although plugging a single speaker into the phone works fine. The app is called Music Center or something terrific. I don't need a music center. I just want to set up my speakers and set them up for partners in particular because when they do it sounds great. But they always forget this attitude. Somehow everything I want to do with speakers hides in three menus and then never gets stuck. I've tried the Android app and the iOS app, somehow Sony wants to have a pairing with their app that goes beyond what the phone will agree to and it works a little better on the Android version. Voice actors always forget they were buddies, and getting them to play together again involves going into the app a few times and repeating a weird process that claims to take twenty seconds but usually just freezes. Party Chain mode feels more sophisticated than having both connected to the phone. When they run out of battery, they refuse to play except at a low volume. This is confusing as they appear to be very weak but in reality they only need juice. Great sounding speakers - but they make me so frustrated fooling around in the app to try and join them again to play together after they've forgotten each other for the hundredth time.
