I didn't have much experience with rain hammocks. My friends have several models from ENO, Bear Butt and Chill Gorilla. Most of these models are 10-11 feet long when hung diagonally, and that's just not enough to keep you dry during the very heavy downpour that always happens when you go camping. Another problem with a diagonally hung raincover is that while the sides slope very low (almost to the ground if you hang it that way), the four corners don't slope nearly as much as they should, leaving the visor vulnerable in wind and heavy rain. The Roman Ventures visor, however, is a slightly modified rectangle that's actually 13 feet long and provides full coverage for my hammock and other delicate gear I store underneath. During a severe thunderstorm in the Adirondacks, this fly kept me almost completely dry despite winds knocking down dead branches. It bribed me. This rain fly is obviously a few grams heavier than other original brands due to its size. But when you start looking at that weight in comparison to soaked gear, it's not a problem. Also the quality is great as mine works great, it's about 4 years old and has been used quite a bit. My brother just got a new one and I believe the ratchet anchor and cord system is 40 times better than the old model. Good job folks.
