There is nothing that keeps the phone on the mount like no ledge or anything that will make it fall off... I will be returning it and will look for one that has a small ledge so that my phone doesn't fall off that often, or at all, rather. I don't want to take the case off because if it falls without a case it might break...it's not very safe for the phone anyway. PLUS, it was almost impossible to hide the iwatch cable in the small compartment - it definitely took a full 10 minutes and some effort.
