Review on πŸ“· Black DSLR Holster Camera Case by Amazon Basics - Ideal for Photographers by Tim Wadman

Really good basic bag but only for mid-size DSLRs

Surprisingly cheap minimalist DSLR bag *IF* you have a mid-size or smaller camera. as a support system, a hardened end to balance the bag and several small pockets. And all this cheaper than the price of a cheap filter. I especially needed something less bulky than my old pick, the Case Logic SLRC-205 camera case (which is already pretty streamlined). Basically I wanted something with no extra compartments or loose material that felt less like a backpack. I also tried the LowePro TopLoader Zoom - the smaller one was too small, the larger one as big as the Caselogic. The LowePro (pictured) is actually a good choice if you're carrying a large camera or telephoto lens. But too big for my purposes. Pros: * Very compact, slightly larger than the camera. Doesn't add much weight.* Adjustable Velcro divider that supports the weight of the camera (so it doesn't rest on the end of the lens).* Reinforced end cap. Stands upright.* Good zipper.* Shoulder pads on strap.* Large enough for a medium-sized camera with a medium-length lens.* Pockets for small essentials (spare battery, spare cards, cleaning cloth, etc.). .) * Handle on lid for easy grip. Cons: * Bag *rings* while walking. Zipper tabs must be rubberized or just one for each pocket.* Pockets are very tight when camera is in pocket. They will not fit a standard sized pen or small power bank. The rolled up USB cable barely fits. Expandable bags would fix this without making the bag bigger.* The strap isn't very comfortable and the shoulder pad moves making it unusable.* Could be made half an inch wider to accommodate additional camera models. The big limit of this Revain Basic bag is the width. My Canon 7DMK2 barely fits, a full frame DSLR doesn't. Length-wise it will easily take the lens shown in the photo (length 35mm) and will shoot up to 24-105 or 24-70, but probably no more. Shown: LowePro Toploader Zoom 55 AW II (L) large holster, Canon 7DMk2 with L 35mm lens attached and this Revain Basics holster (right). The 7DMk2 is a mid-size DSLR, while the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L is quite a short lens. The design, while not perfect, is excellent at this price point. highlighted.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
