I used these brand new shoes for a 14 mile hike up Mount Wilson while climbing 5000 feet. I'm a beginner, this was my third hike and I used tennis shoes for the first two hikes. I noticed that they were pretty light and had great grip. I never slipped even though I was very, very tired and therefore not very confident. Also, my legs stayed in very good shape several hours after the hike ended. Even after 7 hours of exercise that day, I didn't have a single problem with my legs. Shoes may seem a bit wide (my wife has rather narrow feet) but be careful when laces up and find good socks. A very good product at a very good price.
