I have scale in my pipes and in my hot water tank. I removed the tank. Place about 2 feet of stiff wire on top of my drill and by removing the drain valve on the bottom I let the wire and drill do the job of cleaning out the inside of the tank. To test the valve I bought here, I drained a lot of water. until it runs out of the tank. Then I filled the tank and screwed in the one I could hook up to my air compressor and opened the air valve. I was surprised how much more came out than with no pressure. I need to open it up in my hydraulic tank, for many it would be your check valve, add some CLR. Plug it back in and open each sink, toilet, etc and let the CALCIUM LIME REMOVER in so it can go through the whole system and then blow it all out. Remember if you have an old system like mine you will need to have a few valves and seals on hand e.g. Much luck.
