I've read good reviews about ZepmTek remanufactured ink cartridges replacing HP Tango X cartridges. I'm sure they're great, but useless. for me unfortunately. I gave them 3 stars across the board but I'll never know if they were any good. And I blame HP for that. HP, in its wisdom, uses various cartridge "safety" measures to force users to buy genuine HP cartridges rather than cheaper remanufactured ones. This is a common problem with printers these days, but there are usually workarounds. I had two problems: First, I'm not based in the US, so any cartridge designed for that market won't work in my region. Second, the HP on-device security check is designed to prevent the reuse of cartridges that have previously been used in an HP printer. So much for reducing landfill and promoting recycling. You can change the save location in the printer settings (via the printer webpage) and disable "cartridge protection" in the "supplies settings" section (also more likely via the printer webpage). than the HP Smart app). Tip: Disable cartridge protection before attempting to install a third-party cartridge. But at least for me no modification or factory reset will make the printer accept what I am sure a perfectly usable cartridge. Result: Flashing amber light and "incompatible cartridge" error. In other words, no printing. live and learn This is my first and last HP printer.
