I bought these for my HyperX CloudX flights (Xbox specific). The standard headphones are a bit small and my ears are pushed against the speakers. This caused some discomfort during long gaming sessions. So I decided to buy ear pads. I'm glad the HyperX's cup size matches other headphones, so we have a lot of options. I ended up buying these and micro suedes to try. I left a separate review about Microsuede, so I won't talk much about it here. Simply put, they're soft, comfortable, and very good at blocking noise. However, they breathe just as well as the skin and are therefore somewhat warm. I tried them and decided they are for me. Benefits1. Noise canceling is my wish. I like to hear the world around me (especially with 3 dogs and a girl lol). It's enough for me to hear sounds that I might need to pay attention to, but it's enough to drown out most of the ambient noise in the room. 2. They are breathable, although not as breathable as I'm used to from something like Sennheiser velor cups. However, these are the coolest of the three Brainwavs they sell on this list (half leather/half suede, full suede, and micro suede). With semi-leather ear pads on my Rig 800, I used all 3 archetypes and they were the least warm.3. It didn't change the sound as much as I expected. CloudX Flights have a V-shaped sound (a little heavy in the bass, a little heavy in the treble for imaging purposes). Both still applied to her. I think it maybe more important for other headphones but not for this one.4. They fit! More on that later.5. I personally don't like memory foam. It breaks during a gaming session and I end up having to adjust the headband. The foam in them wears down over time, but they hold their shape quite well over longer gaming sessions. They are much more comfortable than the standard HyperX ear pads as my ears no longer press against the rider. HyperX is still comfortable, just small. Neutral1. The stuff on it is not what I expected. I'm used to Sennheiser velor, which is a bit softer than this material. Some people complain about scratching them and I completely understand. I don't mind that, maybe my brain just tunes it better than others (not that it's mentally retarded, just a matter of preference). Anyway, I find them comfortable, but they're a bit scratchy, so people sensitive to them should probably try a much softer micro-suede or a different brand of velor earpads. Disadvantages1. The piece of leather on the back that you use to connect the earpads to the headphones is MUCH longer on the HyperX headphones. You should cut off about 1/3 of it and even then it's still pretty loose. I would recommend trimming it just above the small seam and if it's still too loose then trim it from there. You'll need to tailor them to a pair of Rig 800 or CloudX flights. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase. I prefer fabric over suede or leather for the cooler and more breathable effect. The sound didn't change much to my ears and everything worked pretty well. To me, microsuede sounds better (probably due to better noise cancellation and better sealing with memory foam) and I can switch between them if needed, but velor just makes me feel good. . Just beware of the tingly feeling. They are not as soft as some other velor ear pads.
