I connected it to the TV's USB port. I wanted it to turn off when I turn off the TV and then stay off until I turn it back on. What happens is I set it to a solid color (no blinking) and watch TV, everything is fine, then I turn off the TV and it goes blank. Then, after a few hours, it turns on again and changes color. Very annoying. If you're willing to live with it and plug it in manually, then I think that's fine. It was easy to install and the light is great. Lack of control as it always seems to revert to an annoying rotating color scheme. I turned it off but left it attached to the TV if I want to turn it on manually.
