I'm a semi-professional photographer so I know a thing or two about cameras. I have to say, this little thing surprised me. I bought this for my girlfriend as an anniversary gift as she loves photography and wanted me to teach her how to do it. I didn't want to spend too much in case she changed her mind, but I still wanted to give her something with all the settings and features she needed to learn. The camera is a bit slow, although I'm used to a big, good DSLR, so anything that isn't a DSLR is slow for me. There's a slight lag when you press the shutter button, but not as bad as some of the P&S (point and shoot) I've used and once you get used to it you won't notice it. The camera takes a second to return to the screen to take another shot, but much quicker than I expected as most P&S take a few seconds to save a shot and prepare for the next shot. The image quality is actually pretty good, although at higher ISO's like 800+ it takes on an airbrushed appearance due to the noise reduction used by the camera, but the noise is still eliminated. Also at ISO 1600 and 3200 the number of megapixels drops to 4 megapixels, so don't use it if you don't have it. The images are surprisingly sharp for a cheap P&S like this, and the colors produced are pleasing too. It has a lot of good story modes that seem to work pretty well. The panorama feature is great and does a great job of helping you capture your next photo. In short, the cameras are a bit slow but better than other P&S. This produces good images with good colors. ISO 1600 and 3200 are useless and should only be used when you need a specific image that you cannot get any other way. Has many nice features that you won't find in many similarly priced cameras. I recommend this to anyone looking to get into photography and need that first camera or just want a good cheap P&S with good zoom for holiday and family photos. I recommend this to non-serious photographers looking for something to leave their DSLR at home for. PS White is beautiful and doesn't have the ugly texture that black has. I myself have a GE X5 that I keep in the car in case I see something I absolutely have to photograph and I don't have my DSLR with me and it has such an ugly texture and I hate it. So buy white or even red or purple if you find them on sale.
