These are really wonderful Christmas lights! They're indoors but I'm sure they'll work under an eaves or under a porch or somewhere outside but so protected. First, they are very light and easy to put on. A few small J hooks and small zippers and you're good to go. These are LEDs so they won't go bad in your lifetime and they use very little power. They will be a little fragile, so don't bend them too much. The plug can be connected to many other strings (but not one of them!) so it can be added to another string of lights or simply plugged into a regular two pin AC plug. The remote control comes with a battery (whoops!) so you're ready to go right out of the box. The remote itself gives you an amazing range of colors, blinking, blinking speed, etc., more than I want to use. Suffice it to say that it can achieve almost any effect you want. You can even turn the timer on and off. Unfortunately, this timer is a one-time program. He will not do this in the following days or nights. And just as bad, if you set all your color changes and blinking the way you want, when you turn it off it's all gone and you'll have to reprogram it. This is the only downside. I usually set my Christmas lights to a light-sensitive timer that turns on everything connected to it every day as soon as the sun goes down. Well, it will work, but only in the initial setup (red only). Not the colors you want and flashing etc. As good as it is, it does have a downside. The fact is that most of these lamps have the same problem. It's still pretty cool, and it doesn't matter to you yet.
